JUST WHO GOD IS LOOKING FOR.

From 1 Corinthians 1:26–27 we read: “For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.”

JUST WHO GOD IS LOOKING FOR. A radio station was once making phone calls to homes in the area to get feedback from local residents. One of those calls turned into a humorous conversation with a little boy. The caller said, “Hello, this is WKJR Radio. May I speak to your mother?”

The little boy whispered, “She’s busy.” The caller said, “Well, may I speak to your father?” The boy whispered, “He’s busy too.” The caller asked, “Is there any adult there I could speak to?” The boy whispered, “The police are here.”

The caller said, “Goodness! May I speak to one of the officers?” The boy whispered, “They’re busy.” The caller said, “Well, there must be somebody there I can speak to.” The boy whispered, “The firemen are here.” The caller said, “Son, please let me speak to one of the firemen.”

The boy whispered, “They’re all busy.” Finally, the caller asked, “Son, what is everybody doing that has them so busy?” The little boy whispered, “They’re looking for me.”

IS GOD LOOKING FOR YOU? In our verses for today, the Apostle Paul reminds the believers at Corinth that God often chooses people the world would overlook. Not many mighty. Not many noble. Not many impressive by human standards. Why? Because God delights in using ordinary people so He alone gets the glory. I can imagine how some of those believers making excuses. “God can’t use me. Look at my past.”

“I’m not educated enough.” “I can’t speak like Paul.” “I don’t know the Bible well enough.” “I haven’t been saved long enough.” “The Lord couldn’t possibly use someone like me.” But their mistake is the same mistake many make today. They were looking in the mirror instead of looking to the Master. The truth is, no person has ever accomplished anything worthwhile for God in their own strength. But God has done amazing things through people who were simply surrendered to Him.

ENOUGH WITH THE EXCUSES! I hear people say, “Well, I can’t do much. I’ll just serve the Lord in my poor little weak way.” But that is not always humility. Sometimes it is just self-pity dressed up in religious language.

God doesn’t want you to serve Him in your “poor little weak way.” He wants to take your weakness, fill it with His strength, and use your life for His glory. The Lord specializes in using common people because that’s the way He made a lot of us!

CHECK GOD’S RECORD. All through the Bible, God used people others may have overlooked. Rahab had a sinful past. Gideon was fearful. Samuel was just a boy. Ruth was a widow. David was a shepherd. Esther was an orphan. Matthew was a tax collector. The lad only had a small lunch. Saul had persecuted and killed Christians. Peter denied the Lord. John Mark deserted the work on the mission field. Yet God used them. Why are their stories in the Bible? To remind us that God is not limited by our past, our weakness, our background, or our failures. He can still use a life that is surrendered to Him.

IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU!  It’s not your fame. It’s your faith. It’s not your ability. It’s your availability. It’s not who you are. It’s Whose you are. God has always chosen to take what the world calls weak, place it in His mighty hands, and use it for His glory. So, if you feel too weak, too unable, too unqualified, or too unworthy to be used by the Lord, CONGRATULATIONS!! You may be just who He’s looking for. Your weakness is not the place where God stops. It may be the very place where God starts. Surrender yourself to Him today. Stop making excuses. Put your life in His hands. You never know what God may do through someone like you. Think it over…🙏
